MORE SPECIFICTATIONS

SPECIFICATIONS FOR SENTRY-PRO AUTOMATIC OPERATED STANDBY SETS WITH LPG OR NATURAL GAS FUELED ENGINES.  MODELS SHOWN BELOW ARE ACTUALLY, THE SAME GEN-SET, BETWEEN LPG AND NAT. GAS FUEL.  NAT. GAS HAS AN AVERAGE 10% TO 20% REDUCTION IN BTU CONTENT COMPARED TO LPG FUEL, THEREFORE LOWERING ENGINE HP, WHICH LOWERS KW OUTPUT.  FOLLOWING ARE SPECIFICATIONS COVERING EACH MODEL WITH BOTH FUELS.

TYPICAL SENTRY-PRO DRY FUEL, AUTOMATIC OPERATION

When normal power fails, SENTRY-PRO automatically starts and supplies your selected emergency loads.  Upon return of normal power, SENTRY-PRO automatically shuts down and returns emergency loads back to normal power.  These actions require no operator to be present. All 2-pole, 3600 RPM, SPV & SPH series, 1 phase or 3 phase sets can use almost any 2-wire controlled automatic transfer switch (ATS), whether it's our model or customer's furnished 2-wire ATS

A TYPICAL "ENGINE START" ACTION IS AS FOLLOWS:
1.  A time delay of 10 second (adjustable) to engine crank (eliminates nuisance starts on normal power glitch losses).
2.  A (3) cycle engine crank occurs:  15 second engine crank, followed by 15 second engine rest.  after (3) crank attempts, a final shutdown occurs.  This action saves the starting battery and engine starter motor from overheat damage.  If engine doesn't start in (3) attempts, a service technician is required.
3.  A time delay to transfer, allows generator set to start, stabilize and warm-up before electric load is transferred to emergency generator power (adjustable).

A TYPICAL "ENGINE STOP" ACTION IS AS FOLLOWS:
1.  A time delay to retransfer, allows return of lost utility power to stabilize before re-transfer of electric load, back to utility power. (adjustable)
2.  A time delay to "engine cool down", allows load to be removed from gen-set, and returned to restored utility power.  The engine runs un-loaded for a predetermined cool-down period. (adjustable)
3.  At any time an engine or generator would mal-function, the entire gen-set system would immediately shut down.  The fault must be corrected, the control system must be "Reset" and gen-set is ready to run again.

The automatic transfer switch is included with standby generators as a "packaged" standby system, or generator is offered as a separate item, so that customer furnished ATS or other 2-wire sensing system can be used.  A choice of 100 amp or 225 amp, UL-1008 certified auto transfer switch can be selected Also, view "100 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch" or "225 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch" for specifications on both transfer switches.

All air cooled, residential standby sets, at 3600 RPM, will not have SENTINEL III.  These gen-sets will be automatically controlled by a digital microprocessor, giving protection for: auto start-stop upon demand of sensor signals • time delay for engine crank cycle • 3 cycle engine crank attempt before final shutdown • low oil level auto shutdown • over heat auto shut down • over speed and under speed auto shut down • low battery voltage auto shutdown • time delay for engine cooling auto shutdown after utility power is restored.

A built-in LED annunciator shows the following shut-down conditions:  high temperature • over crank• over speed• under speed• low oil • low battery. Also shown is: "Engine Running" (everything is normal while gen-set is in operation) and "Not in Standby" (someone accidentally left controller switch in "Off/Reset" position and standby gen-set can not function during actual power failure. The control panel that houses the digital microprocessor and (8) point LED annunciator, will also have additional features: a magnetic circuit breaker (automatically trips open upon electric over-load); a three position control switch (test position for manual test operation; standby position for actual auto start-stop when power failure occurs; off/reset for repairs or for re-setting the controller after a fault is repaired; and a run time hour meter which totals run time for periodic service maintenance work.

EXCEPTION TO THE USE OF STANDARD GILLETTE RECOMMENDED AUTO TRANSFER SWITCH

The stand alone, SPV & SPH SERIES gen-set, with 2-wire start-stop control in the generator circuit, can be used with any brand or amp size, automatic transfer switch, with matching 2-wire control circuit.  Following are reasons why a generator set only (without "packaged" auto transfer switch) is offered:

1.  User wishes to install larger amp size transfer switch to match utility distribution amp size.
2.  50 Hertz operation is required.
3.  Three phase operation is required.
4.  No transfer switch is required.  A sensor such as used in solar systems, a temperature or pressure switch, a liquid level switch, or any other type 2-wire sensing device controlling the auto on-off sequence, for the gen-set to power certain loads.
5.  Distributor or user may wish to use a specific brand transfer switch.
